The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little reward to more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually pressed up the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
